THE CHURCH EXPERIENCE PROJECT

False expectations of what church is about can be one of our worst enemies. I grew up in a denomination (Mormonism) that believes they are the only “true church” of God. This in itself comes from a false concept of what the church is and what the role the church in your life is. Most Americans (even Christians) really don’t understand what the relationship between the organized church and the members (the real church) should be. Six out of ten people drop out of church for at least two years of their life. One of the top reasons people drop out of church is because they have unmet expectations.

People can get so wrapped up in church programs or producing ministry results that they lose sight of living in a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. Providing information through small groups and classes, the pulpit, and so on, is not sufficient if there is no transformation. It is one thing to be related through the covenant blood of Jesus Christ, yet many have no meaningful fellowship with Jesus. The passion of MyChurchGrowth.com is to be a place to find ideas to help bring people into meaningful fellowship with Jesus Christ.

The fun video at the top of this page is to remind us all that when we think outside the box, we must not forget what’s inside the box. What good is it to increase attendance without increasing the passion for Jesus Christ inside the members? We can do both.

The Church Experience Project is intended to help understand Americans and their journey to a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ through the local church. 43% of Americans said it doesn’t matter what religious faith you follow because they all teach the same lessons. 50% of Americans believe that God loves everyone and all people will go to heaven no matter what they do. I do a lot of door to door visitation and talk to a lot of unchurched people. When I ask them what they would look for, if they were looking for a church, the number one answer I get is, “A church where people would accept me just like I am”. Is that the impression your community has of your church?

The Church Experience Project is designed to be a resource that will educate the church with the latest studies and statistics on the spiritual condition of America, along with ideas for church growth through faithfulness to Jesus Christ and the “Great Commission” He has given to us.
